A woman reported to Ponoka RCMP that she was hitchhiking on Highway 2A, three miles south of Hobbema around 11:15 a.m. when a southbound green tractor-trailer unit hauling two loaded flat-bed trailers pulled up beside her.

The driver got out of the vehicle and spoke to her briefly before grabbing her and attempting to drag her toward his vehicle.
