Blue-green algae advisories lifted

Recent weather has cooled lake and reservoir water temperatures to such an extent that blue-green algae is no longer a health concern.

Effective immediately, Alberta Health Services has lifted the blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) bloom advisories for eight bodies of water in the Central Zone.

Alix Lake, Astotin Lake, Bigelow Reservoir, Buck Lake, Haunted Lake, Little Beaver Lake, Wapasu Lake and Windsor Lake. AHS has also lifted the water quality advisory for Ebeling Beach at Aspen Beach Provincial Park on Gull Lake.

With advisories lifted, visitors and residents are still being reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any recreational body of water at any time.
