Break and enter, intoxication files for RCMP

The complainant’s shop was broken into and two ATVs were stolen. File is currently under investigation.

Man hanging out of window

On Nov. 1 the Ponoka RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a person hanging onto a vehicle while the vehicle was in motion. The incident occurred at approximately 9:28 p.m. on 50 Avenue by 49 Street. The caller reported that they were threatening to kill one another.

Upon police investigation it was found that the driver of the truck was approached by a male who was gesturing like he was going to grab a gun from his waistband. The driver of the truck claimed the man was intoxicated and was trying to climb into the truck.

The male suspect was later located at the Leland Hotel and arrested. A 26-year-old man from Maskwacis was charged with resisting and obstructing Police.

Liquor within easy reach

On Nov. 5 the Ponoka RCMP checked a vehicle blocking 50 Avenue with the hazard lights flashing. Liquor was within easy reach of the occupants of the vehicle.

One male passenger provided a false name and had numerous warrants outstanding. A 28-year-old man from Maskwacis was arrested on the warrants as well as the subject was charged with obstructing a police officer.

Man falls asleep at wheel

On Nov. 5 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident on Highway 2 at 11:41 p.m. The driver, a 30-year-old Calgary man had fallen asleep at the wheel and crashed the vehicle into the ditch.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

Ponoka man enters vehicle

On Nov. 6 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of mischief on 53 Avenue. The complainant reported that his dogs were barking and that they noticed a man in their driveway by their vehicles.

The complainant turned on the outside lights hoping the suspect would leave, however, he did not leave the scene but instead entered one of the vehicles.

Police were dispatched and upon arrival they located the male suspect, who was subsequently arrested. A 30-year-old man from Ponoka was charged with mischief under $5000.
