UPDATE: Three taken to hospital in crash at Hwy. 2A and Hwy. 604

UPDATE 2: Traffic flow has resumed on Highway 2A between Lacombe and Ponoka.

The investigation continues into the circumstances of the collision.

UPDATED STORY:

The intersection of Highway 2A and Highway 604 in Morningside is currently closed in all directions due to a collision. Expect major delays and use an alternate route.

Ponoka RCMP were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle motor vehicle at the intersection at 9:14 a.m., according to an RCMP release.

A westbound vehicle travelling on Highway 604 entered Highway 2A and struck a southbound vehicle.

The two occupants of the southbound vehicle were transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was also transported by EMS with undetermined injuries.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing and the RCMP Collision Analyst has been called to the scene to assist.

Motorists are asked to avoid Highway 2A between Lacombe and Ponoka and to use Highway 2 (QEII) as an alternate route.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
