A Lacombe woman has won $1 million through the Western 649 lottery.
“I always check my numbers online the day after the draw,” said Trudy Allen. “But I was in total shock when my numbers matched.”
Allen, who won on the April 7 draw, said she has one big plan for her winnings.
“I’m going to retire as soon as the money is in my account,” Allen said, adding she hopes to take a vacation when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
“I would like to travel when it’s safe to do so,” she said. “I’d like to see Europe and travel to as many countries as possible.”
Her player-selected numbers – 7, 10, 11, 30, 31, and 49 – are a combination of birthdays and other special events. Allen purchased her winning ticket at the Lacombe Rexall at 5010 53 St.
Allen is the 17th Alberta lottery winner since the beginning of the year.
