Charges laid after accident

Hobbema RCMP arrested Jody Lee Francis Soosay, 28 years old, on May 15 and charged him with 12 criminal code charges. Soosay has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on May 27.

Hobbema RCMP arrested Jody Lee Francis Soosay, 28 years old, on May 15 and charged him with 12 criminal code charges. Soosay has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on May 27.

Soosay is charged with three counts of impaired driving causing death, three counts of criminal negligence causing death, two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, one count of operating a motor vehicle over .08 and one count of driving while prohibited.

The charges are from a two-vehicle accident three miles east of Hobbema on Hwy 611 at an intersection on April 28. The collision occurred between a Jeep traveling Eastbound and a Toyota traveling south bound. Three people were killed in the accident and three more were taken to hospital. One victim was transported via STARS air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital and the two others were transported via ground ambulance.

The Hobbema RCMP continue to investigate this matter.
