A by-election will likely be held later this year to replace Beva Hamilton on Ponoka town council.

Mayor Larry Henkelman said he would like to see a by-election held as soon as possible.

The matter may have been added to last night’s council agenda.

Henkelman said the town is dealing with a number of important issues and committee work that requires debate by a full council.

With the mayor and five councillors motions are lost on a tie vote.
