The Crestomere 4-H Multi-Club held their Public Speaking at Crestomere School on Feb. 16. We would like to thank Gary Rosenow Agencies for their donation to our club which went toward purchasing awards for the members. Thank you also to Joyce Winter, Kathy Bogath and Richard DeBruijn for judging, Sylvan Stamm for being our Master of Ceremonies and all of the parents and grandparents who attended. For most of our members this was a new experience. In the Juniors, Mark DenOudsten placed first for his speech about cats. David Luce spoke about his dog Jess and placed second and Danny Lysons spoke about his trip to the Maritimes and placed third.

In the Intermediate category Morena Stamm’s speech was about Queen Elizabeth I and she placed first and Paul Theissen placed second for this speech about snowboarding. We don’t have any Seniors in our club. Morena, David and Paul went on to speak at Districts on March 2 in Rimbey. Paul placed third in the Juniors.

We also spent an afternoon with Murray Key learning more about rocketry. He went through the project books with us and showed us some of the new rockets that he is working on. We will be working on our projects at our next meeting. We are looking forward to our Achievement Day on May 24.

Our members will be attending the District Day trip to West Edmonton Mall on April 12. We will be allowed to spend the day either at the Water Park, Galaxyland or shopping.
