Due to the rainy weather, Ponoka’s annual ‘Penny Carnival’ was postponed to Monday, Aug. 30.

The Ponoka Community Market is partnering with the Ponoka Jubilee Library’s Summer Reading Program and the Town of Ponoka to present the carnival.

At the Penny Carnival, kids can dig for pennies in a sandbox and use their ‘treasure’ to buy items at a table during the community market, held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the old library building (5110 48 Ave.).

“When the little darlings get their pennies we have a store table where they can spend all their pennies,” said Debbie Lamey, community market manager.

Parents are asked to bring play shovels or other digging tools and buckets for their children to collect their pennies in.

Donations of pennies have been coming in for use at the carnival. If you have pennies you can donate, please contact Debbie Lamey at dadlamey@telus.net.
