The Town of Ponoka’s drive-in movie night on Sept. 25 was well-attended, with about 200 vehicles, the max allowed for the event.

Disney’s Onward was shown on a 40-foot tall jumbo screen, which was a larger screen than the first movie night that was held, when Ponoka Family and Community Services hosted a movie night in July.

The town hosted the movie night in place of Day in the Park, as a drive-in movie is an easy event to hold while following COVID-19 regulations, says Andrew Jones, Town of Ponoka recreation coordinator.

There is demand for activities like this, and Jones says the town hopes to hold another drive-in movie night in the spring and fall in 2021.

The town will be completing a review over the next few months to determine what events it will host next year.

Popcorn for the evening was donated by Servus Credit Union, Ponoka branch.
