Drop by UFA and meet Paul Brandt

Country music star Paul Brandt won’t perform a concert to honour Ponoka’s volunteer heroes but next week he’ll be glad to meet you just the same.

Brandt will appear at the Ponoka UFA petroleum on Jan. 28 as his tour bus travels between Small Town Heroes concerts.

“We weren’t lucky enough to win, I’m afraid,” said the UFA’s Diane Vold. “There were many, many, many entries.”

On his way from Milk River, home of one hero, to Beaverlodge, the hometown of another hero, Brandt will roll into Ponoka on his tour bus at about 10:45 a.m. Jan. 28. He’ll be at the UFA petroleum agency for about an hour, depending on weather and road conditions, before he leaves for Rimbey.

“So he will be going through Alberta and he will make six stops at six different agencies (on Jan. 28) and Ponoka got picked as one. I’m hoping it was because we had such great entries and such great volunteers,” Vold said.

Vold welcomes everyone to take a break from their day to drop by the petroleum outlet and say hello to the five-time CCMA male artist of the year. She’s also given a special invitation to Ponoka’s Small Town Heroes nominees.

“The more, the merrier,” she said. “I think it would be just great if we could give him a good Ponoka welcome.”

Meeting Brandt at the UFA will also give everyone a good opportunity to take a photograph of him or his tour bus and entering the UFA’s A Picture is Worth $1,000 in Fuel Contest. Go to www.ufa.com/smalltownheroes for details.
