Drugs seized in Ponoka

A large amount of marijuana, prescription medication, cash and drug paraphernalia were confiscated by the Ponoka RCMP on Aug. 15. After a long drug investigation the RCMP executed a search warrant at a house on 46th Street in Ponoka.

A large amount of marijuana, prescription medication, cash and drug paraphernalia were confiscated by the Ponoka RCMP on Aug. 15. After a long drug investigation the RCMP executed a search warrant at a house on 46th Street in Ponoka.

Mona Bernice Fraser and John Steven Scott, both from Ponoka, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking in a controlled substance and proceeds of crime.

Both Fraser and Scott will have their first court appearance on Aug. 29 in Ponoka Provincial Court.

In the last six months police have executed ten search warrants in efforts to disrupt the drug trade. The search warrants all involve information provided by the public and Ponoka RCMP encourages the community to continue their support by reporting suspicious behavior to the police at 403-783-4472 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
