Ponoka RCMP continue to investigate after making five arrests on Wednesday.

Five arrested in possible kidnapping

RCMP arrested five suspects after an alleged abduction in Ponoka on Wednesday afternoon.

Ponoka RCMP arrested five suspects on Wednesday, Dec. 17 in connection to the forcible removal of a 23-year-old man from his home. He was taken to another residence by four abductors where, through investigations, police established surveillance on the home. He was later observed being taken from that home in a vehicle.

Mounties subsequently intercepted the vehicle at the Ponoka Stampede Esso. Witnesses said they heard yelling outside the gas station and saw a large number of police with guns drawn at a maroon SUV.

Five individuals have been arrested in relation to the incident. Police believe the incident to be a targeted event.
