Grad season kicks off in Ponoka this week

It’s grad week in Ponoka, as local high schools get ready to celebrate their 2022 graduating classes.

Once again, all three local high schools will participate in the Graduates of Ponoka Parade on June 2.

Student staging will be at 5:30 p..m. at St. Augustine School (5520 45 Avenue Crescent). The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., and will follow the traditional Ponoka Stampede Parade route.

The following streets will be closed for the event from 6:30 to 8 p.m.:

- 55 Street (from 45 Avenue and 48 Avenue);

- 48 Avenue (from 55 Street and 51 Street);

- 51 Street (from 48 Avenue and 57 Avenue);

- 57 Avenue (from 51 Street and 50 Street);

- 50 Street (from 57 Avenue and 46 Avenue);

- 46 Avenue (from 50 Street and 54 Street) and

- 54 Street (from 46 Avenue and 45 Avenue).

The Town of Ponoka has partnered with Ponoka Secondary Campus, The Brick Learning Centre and St. Augustine School to facilitate the parade.

St. Augustine School

St. Augustine School is holding their commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. on June 3, followed by a banquet starting at 5 p.m. All events will be held at the school.

Ponoka Secondary Campus

The PSC convocation will be at 11 a.m. at the Ponoka Stampede Grounds. The doors will open at 10 a.m.

The gala will begin at 4:30 p.m., also at the Stampede Grounds. The doors will open at 4 p.m.

The BRICK Learning Centre

Their banquet will be on June 9 and their grad commencement will be held on June 29.
