Heaslip, Grose on crime watch menu

Livestock and laughter will combine to support the efforts of the Ponoka Rural Crime Watch.

RCMP livestock investigator Cpl. Dave Heaslip will talk to members at their annual general meeting Jan. 22. Also on the bill is comedian Andrew

Grose, who also co-hosts the afternoon drive show on 630 CHED.

Ponoka County Coun. George Verheire said Heaslip will talk about how to handle cattle in the event of a cattle liner rollover.

Veheire said the county ag service board plans to buy a stock trailer that will be available in case of a rollover. It would be stored at the county yard and available to the fire department to be used to help round up and haul the cattle away.

Grose is a Canadian comedy veteran with more than 20 years of live performances in comedy clubs and festivals. He has made his mark on national television in Canada, appearing in a variety of comedy specials and talk shows.

Tickets are available by calling George Verheire at 403-783-2589, Stan Goddard at 403-783-2343 or at the Ponoka County office and Ponoka Fire Hall.
