Ponoka residents are invited to help beautify Ponoka by participating in the following events during the month of May.

Community clean up May 11 to 15

Ponoka’s annual Community Clean Up event is back with some changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those wishing to participate are asked to comply with provincial health requirements and directives, such as working only with members of their own household, staying within their own neighbourhood and keeping a distance of at least two metres from others.

Residents are also encouraged to wear gloves and cloth masks when picking up trash.

For more information, visit ponoka.ca.

Annual back alley yard waste pickup

On Tuesday, May 19, town crews will begin their annual back alley collection of compostable yard waste.

Public Works crews will make one pass down each back alley in Ponoka to collect yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, weeds, branches less than three feet) in excess of what will fit into your Green Cart.

For details and a complete list of what can be composted, please visit the Town website at www.ponoka.ca.

Green cart weekly collection

Weekly collection of green carts starts on May 6. The green cart is for composting yard waste, grass clippings and kitchen scraps.

The green cart schedule will revert to biweekly pickup after Oct. 30.
