Hobbema shooting leads to charges and arrests

A young man has been charged with second degree murder following a shooting in Hobbema on Oct. 4. There were seven other people who were also charged related to the murder of 20 year old Brian Randall Littlechild, a member of the Ermineskin First Nation.

There were seven other people who were also charged related to the murder of 20 year old Brian Randall Littlechild, a member of the Ermineskin First Nation.

At around 12:30 p.m. a group of individuals arrived at a house on Wolfe Avenue on the Ermineskin First Nation. Littlechild entered the residence and was allegedly shot by Roasting. The group then helped Littlechild into a vehicle and returned to a house on Smallboy Street. The people that were with Littlechild have now been charged.

Hobbema resident Jordan Lee Roasting, 18 years old, was arrested on Oct. 8 in Enoch, west of Edmonton. Roasting was not only charged with second degree murder but was also charged with five firearms-related offences for a separate shooting that took place at about 4:45 a.m. the same day.

Three people were injured in the early morning shooting and were treated and released the same morning.

Roasting is a known gang associate and police found a firearm in his possession when he was arrested.

Both shootings are linked and a number of charges have been laid.

Verlyn Frances Ermineskin, 30, Janine Velma Wolfe, 26, and Gary Michael Evert, 25 have been charged with two counts each of break and enter, possession of a weapon and forcible entry. Warrants have been issued for their arrests.

Thane Joseph Saddleback, 26, Oren Jason Rattlesnake, 25, Leslie Earl Evert, 27, and Peter Rattlesnake, 21, have all been arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of a weapon and forcible entry.
