Lots to see and do in Donalda

Canada Day activities!

Folks in Donalda were invited to start their Canada Day with a pancake breakfast at the Sharon Lutheran Church. The breakfast was free, asking for a voluntary donation to the church. Crowds were able to sit inside the basement area or enjoy the early morning sun in the side parking lot.

At noon, the public space surrounding the World’s Largest Lamp was home to a variety of family-friendly games including ring toss, bowling, and corn hole. Hosted by the Donalda Promotions group, there were balloon animals, face painting and more. Junior’s Firefighter Challenge from Bowden was even on hand with their simulated fire rescue obstacle course. The course is developed based on actual fire rescue training exercises but has been scaled down for young children to participate in and experience the kinds of things real firefighters do.

Volunteers were also on hand at the Donalda museum where they were cooking hot dogs and hamburgers for visitors. Further up Main Street, people were stopping in at the Donalda Drop-in Center for homemade pie and ice cream. The community hall hosted a small market with several vendors selling everything from knitted goods to jerky.
