Man charged in Hobbema death

A young man has died of his injuries following an incident on the Samson Town Site. Hobbema RCMP responded to a call and found the man, Jeffrey Abram Dennehy, in need of medical attention. Dennehy was taken to a nearby hospital and later passed away.

Dennehy was 21 years old.

RCMP treated the death as suspicious and was investigated by Wetaskiwin General Investigation Section and Calgary Major Crimes.

The cause of Dennehy’s death was unknown but after an autopsy on April 3, it was confirmed that the death was a homicide.

The RCMP arrested Treston Eurice Buffalo, age 22, on April 4. He had been a suspect on the Samson First Nation on April 3. Hobbema RCMP charged Buffalo with Second Degree murder in the death of Dennehy.

Buffalo remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on April 7.
