Marijuana found in vehicle

The light brown Escalade was stopped by a sheriff. The 30-yearold, male driver was not intoxicated but was arrested on four outstanding warrants.

During a search of the vehicle marijuana was discovered. The driver was charged with careless driving and possession of a controlled substance.

Liquor theft

A man in his 20s shoplifted a 1.14 L of Smirnoff from Liquor Town at 9 p.m., July 2.

The shoplifter was wearing baggy jeans, a white shirt and a white cap. He left on foot.

Intoxicated driver charged

After a complaint, filed at 11 p.m., the driver of a white Chevy van was arrested and charged with impaired driving, July 2.

The vehicle was travelling south along Highway 2, at 90 km/h, straddling the rumble strips after almost hitting the ditch.

The driver was transported to the Ponoka police detachment and released to the care of a sober individual.

Motor vehicle collision

On July 3, at 11:30 a.m., a vehicle pulling a trailer was in an accident on Highway 53 in Ponoka.

The trailer detached from the vehicle and hit a power pole. The trailer hitch receiver pin was not in the hitch properly.

The owner of the vehicle was charged under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Regulations Act.

Wackers stolen

Two pieces of Wacker equipment were stolen from the Northside Construction Partnership jobsite on Elkhorn Road between June 29 and July 3.

They are worth about $3,700 new. Serial numbers, descriptions of the products and statements have been provided.

There are currently no suspects or witnesses.

Unknown vehicle wrecks lawn

Sometime during the night of July 4 a vehicle travelling east on 53 Avenue hopped the curb after taking a wide turn, hit a tree on the west side of a residence and tore up the lawn.

A complaint was filed, photos were taken, there are no suspects.

Man flees field

A landowner called police after he tried to apprehend a man who was in his field.

Police responded to the rural call made July 5 around 4:30 p.m.

The driver fled the field in an early 1980s Ford truck.

The owner of the field collected a tailgate and church pew that fell out the back of the truck.
