Maskwacis RCMP investigate death of man

A man has died as a result of an altercation in Maskwacis - police investigating.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Allan Soosay in conjunction with a homicide investigation stemming from a Nov. 11 incident in Maskwacis.

Update on homicide investigation:

Police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Allan Joseph Soosay in conjunction with what is now described as a homicide investigation.

A Canada-wide warrant of arrest has been issued for 26-year-old Allan Joseph Soosay, who remains at large, for the following criminal offences:

One count of second degree murder

Assault with a weapon

Assault causing bodily harm.

Soosay is described as Indigenous and aged at 26-years-old:

173 cm (5’8”) tall

75 kg (166 lb.) in weight

Black hair

Brown eyes

Police warn members of the public not to approach Allan Joseph Soosay if he is seen, but instead to call 911 or their local police service.  Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Allan Soosay is asked to call the Maskwacis RCMP Detachment at 780-585-3767 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Background:

A man has died as a result of an altercation in Maskwacis.

Maskwacis RCMP are investigating the incident, which occurred Nov. 11 at 5:13 p.m. Investigators say the man was involved in a physical altercation and then taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say RCMP Major Crimes South has taken carriage of the file and are working with the Wetaskiwin/Maskwacis general investigative section, the Maskwacis Crime Reduction Unit and the Red Deer Forensic Identification section.

An autopsy is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 1:00 pm. and police believe this was a targeted incident and the public was not in danger.

The name of the victim is not being released at the request of the family. Further details will be provided as they become available.

Police are seeking to speak to anyone who was present during this altercation.
