UPDATE: Maskwacis RCMP arrest attempted murder suspect

UPDATE 2

Maskwacis RCMP arrested Jesse Cabry, on March 9, at a residence on the Ermineskin Cree Nation. Cabry was wanted on an attempted murder charge.

Cabry was arrested without incident. The attempted murder of a 17-year-old male, in the early hours of March 2, is ongoing.

Cabry was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. Cabry is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Tuesday, March 15 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

UPDATE 1

Maskwacis RCMP continue to investigate the attempted murder of a 17-year-old male that occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 2, on Samson Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP have still not been able to locate the suspect, Jesse James Cabry, 29, of Maskwacis. A warrant for Cabry has been obtained for charges including attempted murder while using a firearm and pointing a firearm.

On March 2, the Maskwacis RCMP warned the public that they were seeking Cabry, who is believed to be armed and dangerous.

At 2:30 a.m. earlier that day, RCMP responded to a shots fired complaint in the Samson Cree Nation Town Site.

Responding members located a 17-year-old male who had been shot. The victim was rushed to hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.

The suspect was identified as Cabry. Attempts to arrest Cabry resulted with the K Division Emergency Response Team being deployed to the area, however, Cabry was not located.

Cabry is known to frequent Maskwacis and is described as follows:

· Indigenous male

· long brown hair

· brown eyes

· 6’1” tall

· 170 pounds

· slender build

If located, do not approach. RCMP are requesting that anyone who knows Jess Cabry’s current whereabouts, or who have seen him, to call 911.
