Missing Maskwacis teen found deceased after search

The funeral for Jalaine Potts, 17, is being held today, May 19, at 11 a.m.

After a community-wide search, Jalaine Potts, 17, of Maskwacis, who was reported missing on May 14, was found deceased.

Potts was last seen on the afternoon of May 13 on Montana First Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP advised on May 16, that the teen had been located and the manner of her death was not deemed to be criminal in nature.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends,” stated the release.

A wake was held on May 17, and a funeral service was held on May 19, starting at 11 a.m., at the Montana First Nation gymnasium. Internment will be at the Riverside Cemetery.

“MFN Chief and council and staff offer our sincerest condolences to the Potts/Strongman family,” stated a post on Montana First Nation’s Facebook page May 17.

“We send prayers of comfort during this extremely difficult time. May the Creator wrap his loving arms around each and everyone.”

“Momma will always love you my baby girl,” said Jolene Potts in a public post.
