New wayfinding signage was installed in Ponoka last week at locations throughout the downtown area and along the Battle River Valley trail system.

“The new signage will guide pedestrians and vehicle traffic to help visitors and citizens who are new to Ponoka to find and enjoy key features and facilities throughout the community,” said Andrew Jones, manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities, in a press release.

Signs were placed at locations such as Ponoka Aquaplex, Ponoka Arena Complex, Ponoka Civic Centre, Battle River Valley trailheads and the Provincial Building.

Jones said the downtown and river valley are primary corridors for pedestrian and vehicle movement in the community.

The release stated the wayfinding program is intended to expand with more signage being installed throughout the community pending future budget approval.

The new signage was recommended in the town’s Downtown Action Plan and Urban Framework Master Plan and the town said it aligns with council’s priority to support growth and economic health.
