Ponoka Composite High School has received generic threats against the school according to Wolf Creek Public Schools superintendent Larry Jacobs.

Jacobs says that the threats came in via phone calls to the RCMP. He does not know exactly what time the threats came in at but he was in consolation with the RCMP between 1 and 4 a.m.

It was a collaborate decision between the RCMP and WCPS administration to close the school as a precautionary measure.

Currently the exact nature of the threats are being investigated and Jacobs says according to RCMP there may be some relation to the eight person fight that occurred on June 4, which caused the school to go into a lockdown situation, suspend students and restraining orders were put in place.

Jacobs says that at 8 a.m. when the busses arrived at the school they were turned around and sent home. Also, staff informed any student that walked to school or was dropped that the school was closed for the day.

The story continues to develop and will be updated when there is more information available.
