A collision on Highway 2A in heavy rain has left a pedestrian dead.

On Oct. 23 at 7:53 p.m. Ponoka and Hobbema RCMP responded to an incident one kilometre north of Meniak Road, where James Marcell Piche, 17, of Hobbema, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver did not stop at the collision scene but later notified police.

Alcohol is not believed to be involved, however due to heavy rain, weather conditions may have been a factor.

The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been laid.
