Ponoka RCMP are investigating after a small ultralite airplane went down near Ponoka.
The call came in around 7:30 p.m. that a plane had crashed in a field east of Highway 2 just south of the Highway 53 intersection.
EMS, RCMP, members of the Ponoka Integrated Traffic Unit and the Ponoka County East District Fire Department were called to the scene. Upon arrival it is believed the pilot was not on scene and it did not appear that there were any injuries.
It is also believed the Transportation Safety Board of Canada was also called in to investigate the matter, however, Ponoka News was unable to get confirmation.
Police say the matter is still under investigation and information will be released as it becomes available.
