Ponoka Airport hosts practice day

The Ponoka Flying Club hosted a practice day for the Aerobatic Club of Alberta on Aug. 14 at the Ponoka Airport.

Despite the smoky conditions, pilots from across Alberta came together with local judges to get in some quality training.

We were spoiled by the Flying Club’s generous hospitality and delicious barbecue. We greatly appreciate all the support for aerobatics and our growing aviation community.

Our pilots train and compete from spring to fall every year, but this year and next, the aerobatic pilots of Canada are training for their chance to represent Canada at the 2023 World Advanced Aerobatic Championship in Nevada. It is by virtue of support from flying clubs across Canada that the Aerobatic Club is privileged to have this opportunity.

Since taking over the airport in 2020, the Ponoka Flying Club has been working to build a more involved aviation community. There are currently lots available for sale or lease, both avgas and jet fuel, as well as a courtesy car for those pilots looking to drop by for lunch. You can check out the Ponoka Flying Club on Facebook.
