To allow for the installation of a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, the Ponoka Aquaplex will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Regular hours at the Ponoka Aquaplex will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

The current HVAC system has reached the end of its life cycle and the upgrades to the Ponoka Aquaplex will help control and regulate the air temperature and flow more efficiently throughout the facility, according to Andrew Jones, manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities.

“This will greatly improve the user experience and create an atmosphere for all to enjoy,” said Jones in a release.

The town said the Ponoka Aquaplex HVAC system improvements aligns with council’s 2018 to 2023 Strategic Plan by maintaining and enhancing recreational amenities.

The project was also approved in the town’s 2022 capital budget.
