Due to growing demand, the Town of Ponoka is extending the hours and schedule of the Ponoka Aquaplex, starting May 1, to accommodate more users of the facility.

The schedule for public and private swimming lessons has been extended, as well as the schedule for private facility bookings.

As of May 1, the facility will be open Monday to Friday, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Red Cross swim lessons for all levels, Starfish to Swim Kids 10, will be offered on Saturdays.

Registration for May swim lessons is now open. Saturday swim lessons will begin May 8. Monday and Wednesday lessons begin on May 26.

Only three or four children will be permitted in each swimming lesson due to provincial COVID-19 restrictions. A caregiver, aged 16 or older, is required to accompany children into the water for all preschool lessons and Swim Kids 1 to 4.

Private rentals will continue at a reduced rate of $46 per hour instead of the regular $110.

For more details, and the most up-to-date information on the reopening of town facilities, or to register or pay for lessons or rentals, visit the town’s website, ponoka.ca.
