Ponoka Arts, Recreation and Cultural Society (PARCS) was honoured to receive a very significant legacy donation recently from John W Low Agencies in memory of Andy and Shawna Low.
In 2017, PARCS became incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta and operates as a stand-alone entity at arm’s length from the Town of Ponoka. PARCS is a registered charitable society which provides the ability to issue tax receipts for qualifying fundraising, philanthropy or benevolent donations.
The founding committee for PARCS are lifelong residents who recognize our existing arts, recreational and cultural facilities are deteriorating or non-existent. Funds available from municipal, provincial and federal governments is decreasing.
PARCS’ objective is to attract and steward endowment funds and to make strategic investments in facilities that enhance quality of arts, recreation and cultural activities in Ponoka and surrounding county. PARCS exists to help the people of Ponoka and area by encouraging philanthropy and funding charitable activities.
Through contributions from donors and fundraising events, PARCS assembles and administers permanent pools of capital so the returns can be perpetually reinvested in our community. PARCS complements and supports other charitable agencies.
Planned giving can have a significant impact on small communities by providing long-term financial support for various charitable causes. By considering planned giving as part of their estate planning, individuals can make a meaningful contribution to their community and ensure their values and beliefs live on for generations to come.
Planned giving can also offer significant tax benefits, including estate tax deductions and reductions in capital gains tax that can significantly reduce your estate’s tax liability. Donors will be recognized and remembered by PARCS on our legacy wall.
This legacy donation comes to us through Meaghan and Emily Low who are third generation owners of John W Low Agencies which has provided insurance and real estate services in Ponoka and surrounding area for over 68 years. These family businesses along with Envirowest Engineering and Direct Travel operate out of the Low Professional Building on 50 Street.
For further information on PARCS or charitable donations, please contact us through our website at www.parcsociety.ca or stop by our booth at the Ponoka Trade Show on April 14 and 15.
