Four rodeos are scheduled for the long weekend, according to the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association — in Medicine Hat, Pollockville, Bruce and Strathmore.

CFR team ropers Logan and Keely Bonnett of Ponoka won their event at two rodeos last weekend.

The pair, who got the top prize at the Lea Park Rodeo and Moose Mountain Pro Rodeo, said the return to their favourite sport couldn’t come soon enough.

“It’s definitely nice to back on the road and have somewhere to compete,” said Logan. “We’re hoping to earn season leader status and even a Canadian title.

The Ponoka team won the Maple Leaf Circuit Finals at Agribition in 2019 and said, “We’d like a return trip to that event as well.”

Logan Bonnett works as a cattle buyer and his brother, Keely, is also involved in the family feedlot and ranching operation. When they’re not working, the Bonnets can be found in the practice pen.

Their brother Kash is also getting into the rodeo scene — the younger Bonnett currently leads the CPRA rookie standings.

According to to the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association(CPRA) with headquarters in Airdrie, five rodeos have already been completed in July, with four more scheduled for the long weekend. Look for the return of the Medicine Hat Stampede, the Hard Grass Bronc Match (Pollockville, AB), Bruce Stampede and the Strathmore Stampede between July 29 and Aug 2.
