Organizers are putting the finishing touches on the Ponoka and Disctrice Chamber of Commerce’s second annual golf tournament set for July 28.

Folks are invited out to a day packed with fun, laughs, and of course, the opportunity to enjoy a great game of golf, at the Ponoka Golf Club.

According to the chamber, it’s a team event open to all skill levels with the opportunity to build community connections, network, and to also help raise funds for charity.

Golfers will receive green fees and shared power carts, plus enjoy meals, snacks, and beverages and the chance to win prizes.

The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast with the shotgun start slated for 9 a.m.

The cost to participate is $135 plus GST and there will be Mulligans for sale, too.

Payment is required upon registration and a 72-hour cancellation notice is required for a ticket refund.

“It’s really a networking and a fundraising event,” said Sherry Gummow, the chamber’s president.

“It’s for members of the community — whether they are an employee or an employer, or they are someone who just loves to golf and to support the Chamber of Commerce,” she explained.

She added pre-registration allows the chamber and the golf club to better prepare for the event.

“The more the merrier!”

Gummow said the main difference this year is the shotgun start.

“We haven’t had one in the past, but we arranged for that this year,” she said, pointing out that this approach allows for everyone to eat and enjoy refreshments together at the same time following the tournament.
