Numbers of active cases of COVID-19 have continued to drop in Ponoka County and surrounding communities in the past week.
On Jan. 19, the geospatial map on alberta.ca, using the local geographic setting, showed 23 active cases for Ponoka (East Ponoka County), with 196 recovered and one death, and nine active cases for Rimbey (West Ponoka County and partial Lacombe County).
The map was up-to-date as of the end of the day on Jan. 17.
As of Jan. 18, Maskwacis Health Services was reporting 308 active cases. There are now a total of 1412 recovered cases, eight are hospitalized and 11 are deceased.
On Jan. 12, there were 40 active cases in Ponoka (East Ponoka County) and 13 active in Rimbey (West Ponoka County and partial Lacombe County).
There were 398 active cases in Maskwacis on Jan. 11.

Ponoka Elementary School sent out letters on Jan. 15 and Jan. 18 advising that a case of COVID-19 had been diagnosed in an individual at the school.
PES remains open. No status has yet been listed for the school on alberta.ca.
As of Jan. 18, 2021, the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre was still listed under outbreak status on ahs.ca.
