Ponoka Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has brought in internationally certified yoga therapist Kris Inglis to facilitate ‘Yoga in the Park’ this summer.

The free classes, sponsored by FCSS, are being held on Tuesdays from 7 to 8:15 p.m. until Aug. 31 at the Ponoka Community Garden (located at the end of 35 Ave. across from the Ponoka Golf Club).

Inglis, a Ponoka resident, is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).

He has been using yoga therapeutically for five years.

He helps people unwind tension, strain, and pain in their bodies by gently blending biomechanics and yoga principles.

Inglis primarily uses the basics of movement, stillness, and breathing techniques to help people get out of burn out, unlock their energy, and step into their best self.

He works in a one-on-one setting, and also runs group drop-in classes both online and recently in-person again.

The outdoor class is weather and smoke permitting.

Participants should bring their own mat, if they have one. Straps, blocks and blankets are optional.

For those who are highly motivated to take healing into their own hands, Kris customizes at-home programs that he says are simple, safe, and effective.

You can get a hold of Inglis via email at Inglis.kris@gmail.com or by phone at 403-598-7446 or follow him on Facebook, @True Connection Yoga Therapy.
