In case you didn’t already hear, Ponoka’s only monthly lottery, the Ponoka Gold Rush, benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Ponoka, is now online.

BBBS provides mentorship matches, which have continued (though sometimes virtually) during COVID-19.

Ticket purchasers have a chance to win every month. Of the proceeds, 50 per cent goes to BBBS of Ponoka, and 50 per cent goes to one lucky winner. Tickets are $5 each.

“The more funding we have, the more matches we can make,” said Angela Olsen, Ponoka Youth Centre administrative assistant and fundraising coordinator.

Online ticket sales began in August as a way to counteract the drop in sales with more people avoiding going into stores because of COVID-19.

Online sales in September and October were good, but dropped off slightly in November, says Olsen.

The link for purchasing Gold Rush tickets online changes each month and can be found on the Gold Rush Facebook page, @ponokagoldrush, as well as the Youth Centre’s page.

Online tickets are for that month only. For yearly subscriptions visit a location where tickets are available in-person.

Locations with Gold Rush tickets available for sale are: Altitude Spa, ATB, Ponoka Co-Op Oils, Flowers for You, Ponoka Professional Pharmacy, Ponoka News, Ponoka Youth Cenre/BBBS Ponoka, Servus Credit Union and Sommer Home Hardware.
