The Ponoka Kinettes held their “Resurrect the Dress” fundraising event on Oct. 1 at the Ponoka Legion.
The dinner and dance event invited ladies to dust off their old wedding, prom or other formal dress and come out for a night on the town. Gentlemen were also welcome to wear jeans.
The event was a fundraiser for the Kinettes’ annual scholarships.
Ponoka Kinettes vice president Natalie Reglin said they’re still tallying their numbers, but the silent auction alone brought in about $2,500.
The Kinettes have been awarding one $500 scholarship every year to a graduating student who is registered in a post secondary institution.
Reglin says they’re hoping to increase the amount of the scholarship and their goal is to make Resurrect the Dress an annual event to allow them to award more scholarships.
The meal was catered by Bob Ronnie Catering and music was provided by On the Mark Productions. The venue was decorated by Rose Creations Ltd.
