Ponoka LTC residents receive Adopt-A-Grandparent gifts

Ponoka General Hospital Long Term Care (LTC) residents, including Marilyn Lane, pictured, will receive their annual Christmas gift from the Adopt-A-Grandparent program, today, Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Six-year-old Steele Bodin inspired the program so that no grandparents went without a present at Christmas. The Bodin family and other members of the community donate so that each resident receives a gift bag containing items such as a sweater, slippers, hand lotion, crossword puzzles and cookies.

After receiving her gift from the Bodin family last year for her first Christmas at Ponoka LTC, Lane made a blanket for Steele, pictured with his Dad, Scott, to thank him for his kindness.

Lane says crocheting blankets, which she has done since she was 12, helps keep her grounded during the COVID-19 pandemic.
