Ponoka male, 21, charged with assault on a police officer

On April 16, the Ponoka RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence on 56 St. A male was breaking windows on the property.

RCMP members found the intoxicated male in the backyard of the residence. Police issued verbal commands but the male would not comply.

A 21 year old male from Ponoka, was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of mischief damage to property, resisting/obstructing a police officer, two counts of unlawfully selling liquor to a minor and two counts of assault on a police officer.

Also on April 16, 2020 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen 2014 White Ford Escape CBF-3837 from 5112-48th Avenue as well as a complaint that a purse was stolen out of a vehicle that was parked on 54 Ave.

On April 17, the Ponoka RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter to a business on 67th St. A sea can was broken into and approximately $1,000 worth of tools were taken.
