Ponoka man arrested by Camrose police for possession of cocaine

According to information posted on Camrose Police Services’ website and Facebook page, Dustin Dale Bateman, 22, of Ponoka, was found in possession of substantial amounts of cocaine and cannabis on Dec. 19, and was arrested and released on bail.

Bateman was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after the vehicle he was driving was stopped by Camrose police. Upon conducting the traffic stop, the police operated a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation, resulting in the discovery of 115 grams of cocaine, 142 grams of cannabis marijuana and 16 grams of hash.

After a bail hearing Bateman was issued a release order. His first court appearance date is Jan. 8, 2020.

Charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and for the unlawful possession of cannabis were later withdrawn.
