Ponoka RCMP have arrested a male for several offences following a suspicious vehicle complaint from the public.

On April 30, 2021 at 4:28 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Hwy. 2A. Police located the vehicle and determined it had been reported stolen out of Edmonton earlier in the night.

The male driver was arrested and a search was conducted where police located and seized bear spray, a knife and what is believed to be 1.5 grams of Methamphetamine. At the time of the arrest the male provided a false name in an attempt to interfere with the police investigation.

The 17-year-old from Edmonton has been charged multiple counts of posession of stolen property and failure to comply, as well as possession of an illegal substance.

The male has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Ponoka Provincial Court on May 5, 2021.

Ponoka RCMP continue to encourage residents to report suspicious activity and vehicles in their community. If you have information about this incident or any other illegal activity, please call the Ponoka RCMP at 403-7834471 or call your local police.
