Ponoka RCMP investigate commercial break and enter

Other RCMP files include suspects photographing rural properties and other theft files

Ponoka RCMP are investigating individuals checking doors of rural homes.

Police say on Aug. 17 investigators attended a commercial break and enter call at a property on Highway 2A and Township 422.

Upon arrival police found garbage that was recently dumped at the location. Investigation revealed two cars on scene.

One of the suspects was spotted checking doors and attempting to gain entry into the buildings. One of the vehicles had been stolen out of the Morningside area earlier in the evening and had been involved in an armed robbery and pursuit out of Blackfalds.

The second vehicle is described as dark coloured with a spoiler. The file is currently under investigation.

Suspicious photographers of rural property

On Aug. 17 the Ponoka GIS unit responded to a complaint of suspicious males taking photos of property located along Range Road 262. The men were driving a dirty 2001 to 2005 Dodge pickup.

Both male suspects were wearing ball-caps and the passenger had a beard and wore a black hoodie.

Vehicle stolen

On Aug. 13 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a theft of vehicle from the Calnash Ag Event Centre. A blue 2008 Dodge Ram was stolen with licence plate BYM6722. File currently under investigation.

Donation box stolen

On Aug. 14 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a theft of a donation box that was stolen from the 7-Eleven. A man and woman are said to have cut the donation box from it’s cord and left with the box. File is currently under investigation.

Spray painted vehicles

On Aug. 15 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of mischief that occurred on 61 Avenue. Unknown suspects spray painted numerous vehicles that were parked along the street. File is currently under investigation.

Theft from car

On Aug. 15 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a theft from a motor vehicle that was parked on 48th Avenue.

A woman allegedly entered the parked vehicle and stole $60 cash, cheques and a cell phone. The suspect, a 46-year-old woman from Maskwacis was located and arrested a short while later.

The cell phone and cheque book were on her person. She is to appear in court Aug. 21.
