Police have received several complaints of men selling jewelry for gas money

Ponoka RCMP warn residents of an apparent jewellery scam around town.

On Tuesday afternoon police state they have received numerous complaints of men attempting to sell rings and other jewellery.

“The males are very well dressed and they are claiming they are from another country,” states Ponoka RCMP, “And needing money for gas as they will miss their flight.”

Police say the men appear to be from India and they claim their bank card is not working. RCMP warn that the jewelry being offered is costume jewellery and is not worth anything.
