Ponoka RCMP will have booth at upcoming trade show

Ponoka RCMP are hosting a town hall booth at the Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce Trade Show on April 14 and April 15.

• Stop by to learn more about the Ponoka RCMP’s annual policing priorities and provide your input on priorities for 2023;

• Find out about RCMP initiatives in Ponoka and get updates on local crime statistics;

• Ask questions and chat one-on-one with your local RCMP members.

In addition, Staff Sgt. Erin St-Cyr has invited a number of guests to join her at the Ponoka RCMP trade show booth.

St-Cyr has invited the Crime Prevention Liaison for the Southern Alberta District of K Division, Carolyn McTighe, to join her.

In McTighe’s role, she is responsible for reducing recurring incidents of property crime through the provincial initiative commonly know as Project Lock Up, as well as through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design education sessions and security assessments.

She will be available at the trade show to chat further about Project Lock Up and offer individuals ideas and suggestions on how to safe proof their homes or commercial properties.

Kelly Budd, the president of Ponoka’s Citizens on Patrol (COP) /residential watch and some of your other local “COPs” will be on hand to welcome you.

They look forward to answering any questions you have about how you can help contribute to making a difference in keeping our community safe. They will also be able to share what is involved when considering volunteering for one of these groups.
