Winds were so strong March 18 that they knocked over a semi-tractor on Highway 2.

At approximately midnight a Sheriff with the Ponoka Integrated Traffic Unit responded to a report of a single vehicle accident that involved a semi-truck and trailer that had been blown over on Highway 2 in the northbound lane.

The tractor unit was lying on its right side in the east ditch of Highway 2. EMS were already on scene and upon assessment it was found that the driver had not sustained any injuries.

During the stop the wind velocity actually lifted the Sheriff vehicle up on two wheels. After the winds had subsided the vehicle was towed off the highway.
