The Town of Ponoka has been allotted over $1 million in Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) funding from the Government of Alberta, which will help the town complete some municipal projects.
The province is investing over $1.3 million in Ponoka in grant funding to help build and revitalize local public infrastructure.
“I am pleased to announce that over $1.3 million has been allocated through grants within my constituency,” said Lacombe-Ponoka MLA Ron Orr in a recent press release.
“This funding will have a great impact on the infrastructure in our communities and the day-to-day lives of my constituents,” he said.
“This is only one batch of approvals as these grants are approved on an ongoing basis year-round. I am excited to see these projects and all future projects be completed.”
The town has, or will, receive:
• $139,000 to purchase a solid waste loader.
• $700,000 to upgrade roads in the Southwest Industrial Park.
• $100,000 to upgrade the Aquaplex, including deck, wading pool, and chlorination.
• $92,000 to create design plans for Centennial Park, an RCMP station, and the skate park.
• $355,000 to upgrade the trail system.
