After a long awaited well…wait, the Ponoka New Year’s baby has finally arrived safe and sound.

Weighing in at six pounds five ounces, Jaxen Joseph Young entered the world at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre to proud first time parents Terry and Sheila Young.

“It’s January 23 and he’s the New Year’s Baby,” said Sheila with a smile on her face, which was immediately followed by a laugh. The 2008 Ponoka New Year’s baby was born closer to the actual day. Rowan Keira-Loni Bowes was born on January 2, 2008 at 8 a.m.

At the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre roughly 12 hours after the delivery, Sheila was seated in her hospital bed inches away from the tightly bundled Jaxen who was sound asleep. “We’re just so excited and so happy about everything,” said Sheila and her husband, Terry fully agreed. The couple was looking forward to going home to enjoy their time with the newest member of their family.

To help celebrate Jaxen’s arrival, the Ponoka News has partnered with local businesses to donate gifts and gift certificates to him to him and his parents. Gifts include dinner, haircuts and styles, one baby portrait sitting and a baby announcement among many others.

Congratulations.
