Ponoka Youth Centre holding mental health week for teens

From Feb. 23 to 25, the Ponoka Youth Centre (PYC) will be running a mental health week for their teen programs.

From Feb. 23 to 25, the Ponoka Youth Centre (PYC) will be running a mental health week for their teen programs.

“There will also be lots of fun activities happening like tie dying shirts, dungeons and dragons games, pottery with Ponoka Potters Guild, and a dance,” said Mollie Farley, PYC program director.

Community members who will be leading classes include yoga instructor Kris Inglis, Michelle Lentz to talk about nutrition and therapy dog Bane and his handler Jessica are coming to talk about how animals can help our mental health.

Brittany Sande is coming to talk to the teens and share her story, and Olympic bobsledder Chris Spring will be joining them virtually.

Teens will also have the chance to win prizes each day.

The programming is for youths in Grades 7 to 12. They don’t need to pre-register, but need to a member, or become a member, one of the the youth centre’s teen programs in order to participate.

The activities will run from 3 to 9 p.m. each day.
