Central Veterinary Clinic’s (CVC’s) Ponoka location recently added a new therapeutic laser to its long list of treatment equipment.

On 46 St., next to Petrol-Canada, the veterinary clinic obtained the new therapeutic tool at the end of 2021.

The clinic acquired the laser to expand its methods of treatment.

According to Dr. Trevor Hook, veterinarian and partner at CVC, the new class four therapeutic laser will allow vets to stimulate the cells and promote healing and blood flow to a given area on the patient.

The laser will likely be used to treat small injuries or assist with healing surgical incisions. Hook mentioned that although the laser will be of great benefit for their patients, the laser was very expensive.

“It wasn’t cheap. It’s an investment for sure,” said Hook.

The laser is available for use on dogs, cats and horses. For more information or to book an appointment call 403-783-5200.

Hook said that in the future the practice wants to expand its equine performance facilities while keeping the rest of its equipment up-to-date.
