With the recent warmer weather, the Ponoka outdoor ice skating surfaces closed for the season last week.

The ice skating trail at Lions Centennial Park, the Downtown Skating Plaza and the Outdoor Skating Rink at the Ponoka Arena Complex closed on March 16.

The last day for indoor public skating and shinny hockey was on March 17.

Following a provincial hockey tournament at the arena this month, the indoor ice will be removed for the season in preparation for the annual Ponoka Trade Show which is scheduled for April 8 and 9.

“We look forward to the return of the ice surfaces next winter and another fun season of ice skating and shinny hockey in Ponoka,” stated the town in a press release.
